Is Your Thyroid Function Affecting Your Health?

For as long as I can remember, my grandmother has had bad thyroid gland function. She had a slow function, or hypothyroidism, and that caused her to gain weight, feel tired all of the time, and to wish she didn’t have to get out of bed each day.

She has been on medication ever since I was a child, and she is still on that medication today. She has relied on it to keep her thyroid functioning correctly, and it made her feel more human and gave her back much of her energy. She was always busy, so that was very important to her.

On the other end of the spectrum, there is also hyperthyroidism. This is something a close friend of mine went through recently. She noticed that she was losing weight for no reason, and because she was already thin, she became alarmed.
